Today, Vault, a leading provider of data-driven employer rankings and verified employee reviews, has unveiled its 2025 rankings of the Best Accounting Firms to Work For, offering a comprehensive assessment of the U.S. public accounting sector. The rankings feature the Vault Accounting 25, highlighting the top firms for overall workplace satisfaction. Additionally, Vault ranks firms based on factors like prestige, employment environment, and specialized practice areas.
To compile these rankings, Vault conducted a survey among U.S. accountants, with over 13,000 professionals participating from December 2023 to February 2024. Survey respondents assessed their firms across various categories, including compensation, company culture, diversity, work hours, training opportunities, work-life balance, and wellness initiatives. They also rated other firms for overall prestige and prestige within specific practice areas such as Audit & Assurance, Forensic Accounting, and Taxation.
Eric Stutzke, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Vault, emphasized the significance of these findings for accounting firms amid ongoing talent shortages in the industry. Stutzke highlighted that fewer graduates are pursuing accounting degrees or sitting for the CPA exam, while experienced accountants are retiring or transitioning out of the field voluntarily. Notably, the survey identified firm culture as the primary consideration for accountants when choosing an employer. Stutzke advised firms to focus their recruitment efforts on highlighting positive and distinctive aspects of their culture to attract talent and underscore their organizational values.
